There are characteristics of information. Some of these characteristics are qualitative data, quantitative data, primary data and secondary data.

Primary data is data that you have collected yourself. This could be by collecting a few products and going to a shopping centreto ask what product people prefer. This data then can be used to kelp improve the buisness. Most companies do collect primary data.

Secondary data is data that has been collected by someone else. This could be from books, web pages or data that has been bought from another company. However sometimes secondary data can be out of data or not relevent to what you are trying to find out.

Qualitive data is data that can't be measured. This means data that is written or spoken depending on how the data was collected. This would be probably from either questionaires or surveys. However collecting this type data isn't always the best solution for the company as you will get some answers that are not what you are looking for.

Quantitative data is numerical data. You will find that quantitative data can be measured and is mostly used a proven facts. These facts can help prove any specific points that had arised from the situation.
